Best Off-Road Trails Near Philadelphia (2026 Guide)
Top off-road ATV, dirt bike, and trail riding spots near Philadelphia — public and private trails in PA, NJ, and DE. Distance, difficulty, fees.
PA has some of the best public off-road trails on the East Coast. NJ has almost none — but a handful of private off-road parks within 90 minutes of Philadelphia fill the gap. Here are the spots our staff and customers actually ride.
Public PA trails (DCNR registration required)
Rock Run Recreation Area (Cambria County, 4 hours from Philly): 32 miles of trails, intermediate to advanced. The closest 'serious' ATV park to Philadelphia. Whiskey Springs (Schuylkill County, 2 hours): family-friendly trail network with both beginner and intermediate loops. Good first public-trail trip for a young rider. Bald Eagle State Forest (Centre County, 3.5 hours): 60+ miles of mixed-use forest road riding. Beautiful and quiet on weekdays.
Private off-road parks within 90 min of Philadelphia
Englishtown Off-Road Park (NJ, 1.5 hr): 100+ acres of trails and motocross tracks. Day pass around $40. The closest legitimate off-road park to South Jersey. Field of Dreams MX (PA, 1 hr): motocross-focused with some trail loops. Better for dirt bikes than full-size ATVs. Pagoda Pacers AC (PA, 90 min): hill climb and trail riding club terrain. Membership required.
What to bring
DOT-approved helmet, gloves, boots over the ankle, eye protection. PA DCNR registration sticker for any public trail. A tow strap and basic tool kit — even the best trails see flats and stuck quads.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a permit to ride PA state trails?
Yes — every ATV on a PA DCNR trail must display a current registration sticker. Registration is $40 for two years.
Are there ATV trails in New Jersey?
No state-managed ATV trails exist in NJ. Riders use private parks like Englishtown Off-Road Park or cross into PA for public-trail access.
Can I ride a 110cc kids ATV on PA state trails?
Yes — but riders 12–15 are restricted to ATVs under 90cc on public land. A 110cc is restricted to private property or supervised riding for that age group.
